The prostate is a fibromuscular glandular organ at the bladder neck, enclosed within the prostatic fascia — a condensation of the endopelvic fascia. It is anchored anteriorly by the puboprostatic ligaments and separated from the rectum posteriorly by the rectoprostatic fascia (Denonvilliers fascia). The seminal vesicles lie posterosuperior to the prostate.
