The stomach is an intraperitoneal organ completely covered by visceral peritoneum. It is anchored superiorly to the diaphragm by the gastrophrenic ligament, medially to the liver by the hepatogastric ligament (part of the lesser omentum), and laterally to the spleen by the gastrosplenic ligament. Inferiorly, the greater omentum hangs from its greater curvature.
